In my private conversations with him, he told me that he had gotten fed-up with a few of the forum members who claim to know… everything… and that he was going to take a break from the forum for a while.

Thanks to you both

Sometimes, it’s a good idea to take a break for awhile

And that goes for lots of things, not just cartalk

Taking time off lets you put things in perspective, imo

I’m looking forward to Volvo’s return

Or he created a new account that doesn’t have a ruined reputation.

I should take time off to work on my minimum character.

That was uncalled for

Apparently, he doesn’t have a mirror in his home.

Don’t you mean all.

A quick check shows the @TheWonderful90s has posted 4 solutions, and a given bevy of “likes”, all plusses. Valued member imho. I hope they continue to post here. Opinion forum. Everyone is entitled to theirs. I don’t consider the 90’s to be particularly wonderful however … lol …

You’re certainly entitled to your opinion, George

Were the 70s better? That was before my time. The 90s had digital technology but it hadn’t gotten to the point where it started to ruin people and things which is why I like it.

with Volvo taking a break, perhaps new members can get a decent welcome now…

He is very hard on new members coming to a discussion board starting discussions.

I am glad to hear that he is ok and just taking a break though. I noticed his absence and was a bit worried.

Much better, totally!

Actually, each decade has been better than the previous one for me. Why? Because I worked to make it so and I had the good fortune of benefiting from that work.

It’s not so much the 70’s were better than the 90’s, but I was in my 20’s in the 1970’s, and my 40’s in the 1990’s. An adult in their 40’s has more responsibility, more constraints, so I found that age considerably less fun than my 20’s.

The ruination of newspapers and jobs insourcing and outsourcing started in the 90’s. No dispute, it’s only gotten worse. DVD players are definitely better than video tape, so there’s definitely some things in favor of the post-90’s.
