Here’s info on Ford’s plans…batteries included:
Ford’s ‘Next Model T Moment’ Starts With A $30,000 Mid-Size Electric Truck
I’d be happier if Ford would spend that more money to first fix the current recall for the fuel pump issue on my 21 Mustang and other models that they have no resolution for as yet….
Interesting article. I hope it works out for them. At a $30,000 price point, I suspect that they save cost by using a small battery. It wouldn’t surprise me if the range is something like 150 miles. As of 2024, the top five LFP battery manufacturers were all Chinese. I suppose that Ford will have a US manufacturer, and I wonder who it is.
The first story I heard only described it as stripped-down. I thought it would be funny if what wasn’t was the batteries, cribbed that line from ads.
Farley claimed a long range and also that it could power your house for 6 days. A further report today said the battery was part of the structure.
Ford is building a battery plant alongside the electric truck plant here in Tennessee.
Ridiculous claim. Unless one room cabin with no modern appliances…
I thought the work truck had 230v outputs and could power things for quite a long time? The model T truck will be 10% of this reg capacity? Ah, typical car maker whittle down options to force buyers to buy platinum trim to get all the toys.
What does long range mean? Vague terms mean little. For instance, 150 miles is long range compared to the sub-100 mile range of some EVs. The original Leaf has a 64 mile range.
I’d say the battery is part of the structure of my Model 3. It’s used as the jack point for lifting the car. I had Tesla rotate my tires in my driveway ($65, I thought someone would ask) and the tech showed me how to do it.
For 65 bucks I wouldn’t put my pants on in the morning.
Would you take them off for $65?

Toyota does not yet produce LFP batteries, although they might in the near future. All production at the Liberty plant is traditional Li-ion for hybrids. Eventually they will expand into larger batteries for BEVs.
Production at the factory launched this past summer, but the ceremony was held Wednesday in part to mesh the schedules of all the dignitaries. Toyota celebrates milestone for new factory | High Point Enterprise | paxtonmedia.com
