Not everyone has a back up car and lives mainly in a dry climate…
Most people have to drive their vehicles daily rain or not…
I put my junkyard
wiper mechanism in my car. It works ok. It was hard to get it into place in front of the firewall though. I had to detatch the linkage rods at the motor end where there is access to the ball joints, to manuever the rods out of the way, then after the whole assembly was on location, i had to snap the nylon sockets onto the ball joints with a pair of large channellocks
After i got everything all back together, since the rubber wiper arm shaft seals were damaged from prying up on the wiper arms to remove them, I ordered new seals and a wiper arm puller that works like a 2 jaw gear puller, from Amazon. The puller worked great on the drivers side wiper arm. But it worked miserably on the passenger side wiper arm. That wiper arm shaft isn’t designed to protrude high enough above the big plastic trim piece so I couldn’t get the jaws of the puller under the hub of the wiper arm, and with the drivers side wiper arm removed, i had to remove the plastic rivets and jockey the big trim piece around until i could shove the jaws of the puller under the wiper arm hub to operate the puller. That was difficult and awkward. I think next time i have to pull that wiper arm off, i will first loosen the shaft nut and back it off to the edge of the shaft, tap on it with a brass hammer until the wiper arm hub breaks loose from the splined shaft, remove the nut and see if i then have enough clearance under the hub to fit the puller jaws under it.
