My wipers are not working. The motor has a loud grinding noise and yet there is no movement. The grinding sound gets faster when wipers are turned on “high”. They stopped in mid-wipe and were able to go down by hand while the motor was still on. Now there is no movement at all… just loud grinding.
Don’t keep trying to use them. It could be the linkage is binding or that there is something damaged inside the motor. Someone needs to see which it is and fix or replace the problem.
I should add that unless things have changed, if it is inside the motor and I believe that is most likely, it means a new motor.
Sounds like the transmission in the wiper motor is shot.
