wipers make a grinding noise when operating what do I do?
The grinding noise might be coming from worn gears in the wiper motor transmission. If it is, replacing the wiper motor is the only fix.

Is it noisy when wet? If it is only noisy when you drive in a mist with the wiper dragging across the dry glass it may be the blades.
