What is with this full screen video ad?

About every 10 seconds a full screen video ad appears for Silverados in Spanish. This site is now impossible to use. 7 x in the time I typed this post

I use DDG and see blank spots where ads might be. I’m guessing since I can’t see ads.

Ditto!
I use DDG (only for this site) and the OP should consider doing likewise.

This ad is particularly obnoxious because it takes over the entire screen, with a loud soundtrack.

Well, this is the 30th anniversary of Selena’s murder, though she sang in Spanish, she did not speak it. Maybe that is why you are getting these advertisements.

Same!!.. . .

Yeah i thought I was the only one. I pad and safari. Made the site unusable. I don’t speak Spanish and have no intention of buying a Silverado so they are wasting their money. It hasn’t been around much the last week or so though. If I kept my finger on the screen it seemed to delay it a little. The must be in panic mode trying to dell those things.

All you people complaining about ads, yet won’t get a free ad-blocker. I don’t understand

I don’t use ad blocker because I have heard that there are websites that will not allow you to use them if you have an ad blocker. I don’t know if that is true or not. I have also heard that many of the ad blockers have their own malicious software in them.

DDG includes an automatic ad blocker, and it’s totally legit. It also blocks attempts at tracking you. In the 3 months or so since I began using DDG, it has blocked more than 15,000 tracking attempts, and that is for its use on only this site.

I’ve encountered websites that tell me to turn off my ad blocker. If I really wanted to, I could do that. I haven’t found one yet that was so important to me that I’d let them display ads. I use DDG, as I said above.

I use Firefox but also ad and video blockers. I never see ads or blank spaces here.

Hi Keith:
Those are fair questions:

Ad blockers make it easy for you to specify which sites you don’t want to block ads from.

Ironically, it’s the other way around. While any software running on your system can gain access to your information, it’s the ads that tend to have malicious code you want to worry about.

I’ve been using uBlock Origin for a while now. Not only is it always highly rated, but it’s “open-source”. The source code is publicly available, allowing anyone to inspect it for vulnerabilities, bugs, or malicious code.
