Based on how many Tesla Model Y vehicles that I see on a daily basis, I’m not too surprised that they now rank as a close second to the Rav4.
People frequently ask me why I never bought a Toyota Venza instead of a rav4 and say they’re much nicer and luxurious.
I barely ever see a Venza on the road, and if they’re so much nicer, why are they like nonexistent ?
4 cars in my family and only one is in the top 11. Hmmm.
Well the info is from experion and wolf street.
Not one vehicle on that list would be on my shopping list.
Sure, but GM sells 53 vehicles and Tesla sells 5. Toyota sells 50 vehicles. I’m not at all surprised by the Model Y’s success. I see more of them in Central Maryland than any other Tesla.
Lots of GM models but many are duplicates in order to offer Buick and GMC dealers a different nameplate to sell.
This is their last year. Being discontinued AGAIN. The new Crown SUV is replacing it.
Thanks for the reminder @Nevada_545. I didn’t include GMC. Add 9 models for a total of 62 for GM.
Not sure how F-150s outsell Model Ys almost 2 to 1 and RAV4’s outsell the Model Y by 33% and yet the F-150 has fewer registrations and the Rav4 and Model Y have almost the same number of registrations:
Out west there are a lot of F-150s used as farm trucks which don’t need to be registered if they are used only on the farm and don’t venture to public roads.
Most states require farm trucks to be registered as farm trucks, but let’s talk numbers. There were 384,000 F-150s sold and 194,000 Model Y’s sold through June. The original graphic shows more Model Y’s registered than F-150s through June. That would mean if 100% of all Model Y’s sold were registered (194,000), then fewer F-150s were sold and not registered (let’s say 190,000). That means almost 200,000 F-150s that sold were not registered. That’s not just unregistered farm trucks. I have trouble believing the accuracy of the data behind the original graphic.
My father and stepmother just bought a Venza Limited, It’s nice. I’d certainly say it’s interior is nicer than the RAV 4… It’s a bit pokey IMHO. It’s a hybrid with a non-turbo I4. Fuel mileage is very good for what it is 36-40 MPG. Got all the features that most people want, AWD, HUD, large infotainment screen, etc. Drives well. A turbo I4 with the hybrid system would’ve made it more fun to drive. The only issue I see with it is that it’s not a big enough jump up in size from the RAV 4 to justify its existence. You’re paying a premium for not much more car, then you have the Highlander positioned above it, which is clearly larger with way more room but doesn’t have quite the jump in price as the delta between the RAV4 and Venza.
It’s a niche vehicle, and it’s getting replaced with a different, but similar model for next year.
Exactly. The first-gen Venza was a two-row Highlander, while the second is a spruced- up Rav4, same exact chassis, no bigger in anything but length because of its styling. That said, it’s nicer in all the details, I’ve considered getting one. It is being replaced by the Crown Signia, which is back to being a two-row Highlander, pretty much a Toyota version of the RX350 and a full size up from the Rav4.
The turbo hybrid is available in the RX, but it takes a 10 mpg fuel economy hit compared to the regular hybrid.
Not just the interior for me but also the exterior. It’s definitely a more beautiful suv.
Disappointingly, the rav4 I have, its towing capacity is only 1500. Like seriously ? I hadn’t known this before buying it.
Hybrid tows 1,750 and the Trd model can tow 3,500 with tow pack. Dad’s 2019 Crv tows 1,500lbs without a problem.
There are special registrations for farm trucks, but those are for trucks that sometimes do drive on the road. If it never is driven on a public then they do NOT have to be registered. What rights does a state have to come onto your property to check for unregistered vehicles?
We’re getting in the weeds now. Your original comment to my question about F-150s outselling Model Ys 2-to-1 but being registered in fewer numbers was unregistered farm trucks. 200,000 unregistered farm trucks?
200,000 1/2-ton farm trucks sold in 6 months seems like a reasonable hypothesis, I’m going to buy more stock in the company. The ranch owners in my area of the “west” use diesel pickup trucks and put on a lot of miles going from property to property moving feed or cattle.
The first chart shows “F-150”, the other shows “F-Series”. Aren’t the F250 and F350 Super Duty considered to be F Series trucks?
