That is correct. And this is why I scroll down all windows when a police officer is pulling me over. I want him to see me clearly.
What about some kind of Storm Trooper helmet or the bounty hunter outfit with the tinted face shield in Star Wars?
What doesn’t make much sense to me is that there are vehicles with very dark tint from factory. The tint is on the back of the vehicle, both back doors and back windshield, and this is fine according to the law.
But doesn’t this still put law enforcement at risk? What if the people behind in the back of the vehicle had guns?
Welding Helmet, complete wrap around, auto-darkening… Boom!!! problem solved…
And on April 8, 2024, you can view the total solar eclipse straight on…
And Yes, for those that don’t have a sense of humor, I was kidding…
Maybe I need to clean the lens but I still can’t hardly see what I’m about to weld. Just kind of a yellow hue, but I love it anyway.
The heavy tinting I the back on suvs I believe is mainly so thieves can’t see what’s inside. Secondly maybe for occupant comfort. I dunno. If I’m traveling, I still cover it with black plastic.
Maybe it’s just my imagination but aren’t there roll up shades available for the side windows? Wouldn’t help through the windshield though. I suspect this may be a temporary issue though until your eyes heal.
Personally, as someone who has also had cataracts removed in both my eyes, i believe your opthamologist should write to the DMV and have your license suspended until your eyes are less sensitive to sunlight.
Seems like there’s no solution but a covid mask tinted darkly might be a shade tree mechanic fix. I had a car with a beige interior and it was too bright inside. The previous owner had tinted plastic sheets that adhered to the windows. They could be peeled off and moved to any window without adhesive. It could help if you find out where to get them.
State4s (Colonies) are allowed to have different laws. That was the deal when they united. As a matter of fact, the Constitution says that powers not granted in the Constitution to the Federal government are to remain with the states.
The wrap around sunglasses Mustangman recommended do not fit over your prescription glasses. They are prescription glasses.
You asked our collective opinions. It does no good to argue with us if we happen to disagree with you, we don’t make or enforce the laws.
I’ve had cataract surgery 4 years ago. The issue hasn’t went away.
Oh okay. In that case my prescription cannot fit in those frames. I did ask my doctor for sport looking glasses as I wanted to look cool and he told me that my prescription doesn’t allow for those frames.
The self darkening glasses work ok when bike riding or walking but don’t work well in a car because the car shades them too much.
You could have perscription sunglasses made without the wrap aroung curvature by adding straight side pieces but I think you don’t want any solution other than being allowed to ignore the tinting law.
Please don’t be Mr. Volvo.
You seriously don’t understand my condition.
I am in my 80s and have had cataract surgery and can’t even begin to drive without sunglasses. I also can’t drive at night anymore because other peoples headlights blind me. You have solutions, you just don’t like any of them. The world does not revolve around you, or me for that matter.
Instead of suspending people’s license for having cataract removed, how about the law changed to accommodate those who have had their cataract removed ?
The law currently lists about 4 conditions which may qualify for tint permit. Why not suggest that they list cataract extension as one of the conditions also ? Wouldn’t that be a more effective solution? Would you want to never be able to drive again for being sensitive to bright light?
Note: I’m not arguing. Just discussing a topic.
My vision in both eyes is 20/15. Light from the side of the car is what bothering me without tinted windows.
I get wrap around sunglasses and understand police want to see a driver when they come up to a car.
If you google car side window shades or similar, there are a host of temporary and even roll up shades. Rey cheap.
Signing off.
Have you asked your Opthomologist whether contacts is an option. Many can wear contacts after healing. Then you can get very stylish wraparounds.
Have you tried different optical shops? I had a fairly strong prescription plus an astigmatism in my right eye, no problem getting the wrap around ‘sporting’ glasses with dark tint and polarized. Prevented stray light from entering from any direction, had a lanyard so I could use them while swimming.
Off subject, but when I had my cataracts done, I payed extra for the implanted lens that corrected the astigmatism.
Though I agree, have never found any glasses, from any source, tinted as dark as I would like.
You must mean after correction. If your uncorrected eyesight is that good you don’t prescription glasses.
If you do need prescription glasses, then what is the correction? Mine is -6.5 diopters. That is so severe that I can’t get curved glasses. Contact lenses might be another option. I wore them until my presbyopia became severe enough that I needed reading glasses in the car to read the speedometer. You can get bifocal contact lenses too. With contacts you can wear any nonprescription sunglasses you want.
Unfortunately, I’m not a candidate for contact lens.
I wore a pair in the past for only one hour and they caused severe and temporary damages to my eyes despite how soft they were.
