Just what you don't want to see

… when you’re driving through a tunnel!

You only had one job!!! Oops…

You’d think that tunnel roof would be extremely thick and reinforced.

At least the panels aren’t falling down because they used the wrong Epoxy like they did in Boston for one of the Big-Dig Tunnels.

Report: Epoxy Blamed in Fatal Big Dig Accident : NPR

It seems that the drilling company didn’t contact the Miss Utility equivalent before drilling. The tunnels should be identified by GPS coordinates provided to drillers or others working around them.

How could it happen, easy… Drill here… Are you sure? Sure I’m sure! If you’re sure… Sure I’m sure!

It’s funny those “Call before you dig” rules don’t work! We have companies digging all the time here and cutting the cable or water line. You never hear if they called or not.

Web had a lot of cut utility pipes, bot gas and water where I lived, the lines were frequently where the utility marked them. It was easy to see because they marked the locations with flourescent spray paint.

Works around here. If you DON’T call and you hit a power cable or water line - YOU PAY FOR IT plus a heavy fine.

My previous home had underground utilities (no telephone poles…) and when I was planting a bunch of bushes and some trees, I called “Miss Utilities” to mark the cable, electric, phone, gas, etc… My next door neighbor was out in his yard while they were marking the lines and we talking about what I had planned when the technician came towards the side fence we were talking over and he reached over and sprayed Red paint just over on my neighbor’s side of the fence.

My neighbor asked about the Red paint and the technician explained that the electric power lines to my home ran right through his back yard on the 10’ easement… I knew there was an easement there, but my neighbor did not…

The technician said here, let me show you and the he continued tracing the power line and marking it and it ran right under the backyard playset my neighbor installed for his kids.

The technician told my neighbor that it was dangerous to leave the metal playset there with the legs sunk in the ground so close to the power line and that he was lucky that he had not hit the power lines when installing the play set…

My neighbor took the play set down, called to have the utilities marked and installed the play set on the side of his house…

You never know…

Esplanade
A new word added to my vocabulary.

Nothing compared to the Chicago flood.

Or the opposite, flood because drain cemented closed.
