Is this the normal sound of a land cruiser engine?

I listened to the sound of the engine of another V8 land cruiser and it didn’t sound the same as mine.Is the engine sound normal for a 4.7 Litre V8?It revved it up to around 2000 rpm (not cold)

I had to link it to a google drive link cause it doesnt allow me to upload attachments as im new to this

I don’t know WHAT you are doing to that pig, but stop it. That’s animal cruelty.

That audio file is less than useless, if you catch the sarcasm in my line above.

If you want an answer to your question tell use the year, and mileage of your Landi, whether you have a check engine light on or not and WHY you think this doesn’t sound right and then maybe post another audio, or better yet video file showing what you are doing to make this noise… if it is legal to post that kind of act in the USA.

What do you mean if it is legal? It is a sound of the engine revving up,nothing else.Im just asking from a person who may have a landcruiser or atleast know something about them because mine sounded different to the other vehicle i heard the other day.

Retarded spark and restricted exhaust come to mind

I think Mustangman was joking on the “legal” comment…

How old is the Land Cruiser? What’s the state of the exhaust system? It’s a little slippery to try and compare the “sound” of one vehicle to another.

I am joking about the legal…

But you still did not provide any further information about your SUV.

Any chance someone stole your catalytic converter? That sounds bad!

+1 for above, we need more info…

Does it have an aftermarket cold air intake?? Is the air intake hose from the filter housing to the throttle body properly connected, as well as the air filter box closed properly as well??

I would check to see if the exhaust resonators have been removed and straight piped, also make sure the entire exhaust is stock and in tacked…

This used Landcruiser was bought from a friend ( never a good idea ) and it sounds like things were done to it that the previous owner needs to clarify . Or at least pay a shop to inspect this thing so you can decide whether to spend money on or plan on trading for something else.

It sounds like you are having trouble maintaining a steady engine speed and the exhaust system is noisy. How about holding the throttle at 2000 rpms for 20 seconds and describe the sound that worries you?

All 4.7-liter Land Cruiser engines should sound the same, I don’t care what year it was manufactured or the mileage.

They are old, older than yours.

I looked under and i actually didnt find a converter

It had was made dual tipped exhaust, instead of the large single exhaust it had before,

its about 8 years old

Everything is stock except for the exhaust made to have to exahust tips instead of one

i’ll try that, the turbo sounds are normal is it?

I had it scanned early but nothing came up,i can feel a vibration through the daskboard when im holding the revves to about 900 to 1000 rpm

Wasn’t 2007 the last year of the 4.7L in the Land Cruiser?? That is a little over 8 years old… lol

Turbo?? please explain…

Normally that means a cat back exhaust, probably missing the resonators then, that changes the sound of an otherwise stock single exhaust systems… plus different mufflers…

Unless you mean at the exhaust tip, someone put a duel tip on it, so only the last couple of inches has changed…

Please explain in more detail…

According to the owners registration book,it is a 4.6L twin turbo disel,
I think the exhaust tip has just changed because i check the muffler and it has "TOYOTA " engraved on it.
I dont know much about it but give me a moment,i’ll take some pictures and send

Sorry if i made things confusing

I’m guessing you are not in the USA??

Yes,im not from the USA.Is there a difference between vehicles there and outside of the country?
