One cable severed. (Is this one end of a single cable or one of TWO cables?)(Removedoor panel but no time to carefuly inspect.)
Squeezing the window between my two hands and raising it evenly, my wife pressed the button and it is now closed.
Can I string a new cable to replace the severed one?

Most likely not. Your best bet is to get a new regulator. I tried to fix one of these for a friend, and the way it is tensioned, it has to be made that way. It is one cable that is wrapped around. You’ll be hard pressed to get it re-strung properly to where it will work more than once.
