Daughter’s family has a 2003 Chevy Venture. Cruise control quit working. Dealer’s shop found brake light out causing the problem. Rep said it sounds strange, but the two are related. Can that be accurate?
There is usually a disconnect switch on the brake pedal that can get out of adjustment. This makes the CC think the brake is on and disables the CC.
When the third brake light bulb on my 1993 Caprice burned out it disabled the cruise control. It took me a while to figure that one out. Replaced bulb and the cruise control started working again.

I believe every cruse control has a cut off when the brake is depressed. Most use the brake light switch to sense when you press on the brake.
