Cruise Control, 1998 Buick Park Avenue

The cruise control stopped working. The “Cruise” light comes on, but the speed does not hold.
Where should I start looking? Where is the control module?

The first place I would check is to be certain that the brake lights, including the center brake light are working. The cruise control is tied in with the brake lights, since stepping on the brake releases the cruise control. If the brake lights are either not working or stuck on, the cruise control won’t work. If the brake lights are functioning as they should indicating that the brake light switch is o.k., then you will have to depend on the real mechanics that post on this board for other places to look.

Triedaq - Thank you for your reply. The brake switch is not stuck and all of the brake lights are working, including the center light in the rear window.

I’m still waiting and hoping someone has a lead on this problem.
Can someone at least tell me where the control module is?

Well, sad to say, this must be the most difficult problem the board has ever seen.
I guess I have no choice but to take this problem to my mechanic.
Help??
