Audi Logo Fell Off TT Quatro

They used molding adhesive or super glue and failed to remove spots of the original molding tape. A rubber wheel will remove the molding tape however this will be more difficult covered with a layer of molding adhesive.

Body men have seen this many times before. My fear would be someone wiping off the surface, applying the new emblem over the old adhesive (again) and it falls off in 6 months.

I watched the video, I doubt the rubber eraser wheel will touch that hard adhesive.

Possibly not remove the glue. Its a pretty touchy situation. Sorta like neurosurgery.

On an autobody forum like this one:

You will not learn how to fix your car using: Youtube, TikTok, Dildo’s, BONDO, glue sticks, a 2x4, 5 minutes on r/autobody and a poorly written post asking for the info.

If you are asking if you can do it at home…trust us here, you cannot. It is far too complicated.

Initial feedback from autobody forum people say sand it down any way you can. Doesn’t matter how… its already screwed up and re-painting the panel is the cure.

My 2 cent’s…
It seems like you have an older Audi if you are asking about floor mats for a 2001. clean the area with a wax remover, re-apply the new emblem directly over where the old one was. it will cover a lot of that up. then forget about it. life is too short to worry about the looks of an older car. it is not a show car.
Happy Motoring.

You can either do that and guarantee painting is required, or drop by three good shops and see what they say. I know what I’d do.

Sand it down with wet/dry paper WITH water on a solid sanding block. Be very careful NOT to sand the area without glue… that’s why the rigid block. Don’t sand like the picture shows you already did with WAY coarser paper than 800. Once relatively smooth, switch to 1000 grit, then 2000 grit. Rubbing compound, then polishing compound then apply the new logo. Wax. Done.

The auto body guys don’t want the job unless they can do the painting. One verbal quote $1000+ to paint the trunk lid.

Body guy said see an auto DETAILER. Car now set up with detailer appointment…he charges $100/hr and makes NO guarantees. Worst risk is the paint will chip, partic because its not the factory spray on it, now. He says prob take 2 hrs and he’ll follow up with buffing, waxing etc. I think this is the best option. I guess if he screws it up I’ll get it painted with a cheaper guy. Maybe someone who’s semi-retired. Works outta his garage. Maybe bring it 20 miles away to Tijuana. Dunno. Everything has risk. What I should do is give the car back to the knucklehead who did this wrong. Have him paint the trunk for half price, or less. That’s Another story.

Another idea, attach the emblem to a rectangular-shaped intermediate piece that the emblem will fit, then attach the intermediate piece to the car. That may cover most of the aesthetic problems shown in the post 34 photo. Then the only painting problem is the intermediate piece.

If wheels didn’t fall off, consider yourself lucky!

Why go to any trouble for a friggin’ logo? Are people going to think it’s not an Audi? ‘pmarc’ is cramp backwards.
