Anyone care to have a discourse on HHO and WHY it wont give you incredible mileage?

@ Blackbird,in your opinion,if I were to buy a chevy Cruz(or whatever they call those cars) would I be better off with the NA 1.8 or the 1.4 Turb?,I believe the HP is the same, but the turbo has more torque (the eco diesel is sort of awesome,if you like diesels)
From a perspective of an average driver who probaly needs to get to 60 mph quickly, but very seldom goes over 80 mph.

@kmccune Thats a good question my man…and if I had any real life exposure to this vehicle I could more properly answer that question… However…and this applies to any vehicle.

Forced induction…if not being used to extract max power and speed…is just hardware that will break and or accelerate the engines decline. On one hand…the prescense of a turbo does guarantee Forged engine internals…which is excellent. But the stressess this turbo applies will generate more heat…and more stress on the engine oil…forcing your hand toward Full Synth motor oil. I use nothing but Full synth in my VW 1.8T…and it is a must. Those who do not are complaining about oil sludging and engine death at an alarming rate. This stems from how hot the turbo runs…and how hot it remains after shut down of the engine…it acts like a little oven trying to cook the motor oil into fudge brownies…and it succeeds in this when regular oil is used. You need the full synth to handle and live thru that heat. Use full synth and adhere to a 5K oil change regimen and you have much fewer worries.

In this instance I would advise you to choose the 1.8 N/A…less stuff to worry about. This of course is after you look into that engine in that vehicle…look up TSB’s on it…see if that 1.8 is worth its salt if you know what I mean.

I would choose the naturally aspirated engine AND A Manual trans…best longevity situation there.

Bout all I can say. Its not a performance car so the 1.8 should be fine… a 1.4 turbo can easily exceed the fuel consumption of the N/A powerplant if forced to do so… More power equals more fuel and air… so if you have a small overstressed engine with a turbo…you can see worse fuel economy if you push it hard. I bet the 1.8 does just fine

Hope this was helpful??

Why are you commenting on a thread that has been inactive for 3 months ?

LOL… @“VOLVO V70” That was my bad… I was looking in my message box and hit the discussion button. I saw a question directed straight at me and forgot how old the thread was or could have been.

Admin feel free to close this discussion. My bad… I was just trying to answer a direct question asked of me personally
