@Tester I believe I’ve found the source of the IE8 crashing bug. A fix will be deployed soon. It’s specific to this forum’s theme and how it interacts with the Google ads. Very weird.
This has been going on since the website format changed.

I log on to MANY sites and post on quite a few…No problems with them…Only yours…
Guys, he’s trying to help you guys out. I know you’re frustrated, but he has had to field a lot of questions from us. It’s good he was able to figure out the conflict, and hopefully you’ll be up and running soon. There’s a lot of different parts that interact on this page, and like Doug said it’s been a major project to smooth out the kinks.

Lincoln thinks I have an internet connection problem, but if so, it’s only when I try and post to Car Talk…No problems with any other site…But if I’m the only one having these problems, then it must be me somehow…yesterday I could not post to the forum at all, the same old “network error” message…Today, all is well…
FYI, this Internet Explorer problem when using the new Car Talk web site seems to have been solved now.

It doesn’t necessarily mean the network to and from your computer…but somewhere in the network path that you computer takes to connect to Cartalk. Could be your service provider…or some other router in the path that is causing this problem. When you connect to a different site it’s NOT taking the same path so you may not experience the same problem.
I had lots of problems. For at least the last week this site is working fine on my old computer, the one giving me the problems before. I’d say the fix has worked. No error messages at all, and no kicking out of the site and reloading. All is good!
@System - please let us know when the IE8 fix is deployed, as of last night my XP/IE8 system still had the problem.
No problems at all on W7/IE9.
Constantly.
For me, WIN-XP, Firefox, Hughes net ISP, the site works fine except about 60% of the time I can’t post. The “Post Comment” button is simply disabled for me. I think maybe users are being limited as to how often they can post or how much they can post…That’s what it feels like on my end…Yeah, I can take a hint…
