Most fur-bearing mammals live by their noses. I was plagued by what seemed an incurable skunk problem recently until I had the idea of sprtinking a barrier of ground black pepper around the problem area. It stopped the problem immediately and completely. Poor skunk is probably still sneezing out in the woods somewhere…
That’s a great solution. I’m sure that animal control folks would be pleased that you used a benign solution. We use a similar solution: commercial preparations of hot pepper juice to control those 5-foot tall rats in the woods (deer).
