Driver-side rear button won’t open the sliding door, but closes it OK. Driver’s
control buttons work OK, opening/closing the sliding door. Also can manually
open the door by pulling on door handle OK.
The passenger-side controls work OK, can open/close passenger-side sliding
door using any control, problem only on driver-side sliding door.

I’d suggest that if you’d like the drivers sliding door to open when the button is pressed that you first check to see that there is not a “child switch” activated that prevents this. That info is in your owners manual. If that has not been activated, the drivers side sliding door switch has likely failed.
