2008 Honda Accord engine shut off while driving

I have a 2008 Honda Accord. Twice in the past eight months, the engine inexplicably shuts off while driving. What could be the cause of this?

The list is almost endless. Could be a fuel pump, crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor and more. I can’t narrow it down without more info.

Is the check engine light on? What engine? What transmission? How many miles?

That’s scary, Mustangman right. All the mechanic can do is prove what they know is good, and check, test, and try to eliminate components in a stage to find it. Diagnostics and codes don’t always show the hidden things, broken wires, bent pins, failing intermittent components. I fixed 4 related running/shut off problems by: removed dead bird in air intake, opened up bent tail pipe, replaced crimped fuel hose under the car, found broken main distributer wire for plugs by testing (it separated when it got hot & shut down the car). That’s a tough one, many variables.
