just bought a 2007 Chrysler Town & Country mini van. it only came with 1 combination keyless remote/key. after reading the owner’s manual i went & paid $120 for a plain vanilla “chip” key ($70+ for the key, $30+ for programming). if i use either key to unlock the doors via the door keyholes, the doors unlock as they should, but when i open the door(s)the alarm goes off, which can be disabled when either key is inserted into the ignition & turned to the “on” position. earlier versions of this Chrysler van didn’t incorporate this annoying problem. when i brought this up to the dealership’s service manager he suggested that this might happen if the remote was not used to disable the alarm system. any work around for this, or do i just live with it & use the remote?
