My Dodge ram 1500 creaks when turning either direction, while moving or standing still. The noise seems to emanate from the driver side front wheel area. The noise only takes place as the wheel becomes turned sharply.
When the truck is in the air and I turn the wheel it makes no noise at all.
I’m thinking I have a bad ball joint. Could a bad bushng at a steering linkage cause this? I have it all lubed up though so it seems odd it would make that much noise. It sounds like rubber on rubber though. Ideas?
The noise could be caused from a dry ball joint, so try greasing the ball joints to see if the noise goes away. If there are no grease fittings on the ball joints, you can inject grease into them by using a needle greaser that’s inserted either under or through the rubber dust boot.
