on 2000 nissan maxima the driver side window won’t go down. should i replace the switches or the motor. is there a way to check either one?
Presumably you checked your fuses? (If you do find a fuse problem, btw, the reason the fues blew still has to be uncovered).
In order to figure this out you’ll need an electrical multimeter or at least a test light. First you’d want to know whether or not power makes it to the switch. Then you’d want to find out if power makes it through the switch to the motor connection.
This normally involves some interior door panel disassembly. For $20 at an auto parts store, a repair manual will give you the basic procedure for removing the switch & door panel, and for testing. It will also have wiring diagrams to tell you which wires are supposed to do what.
