Why no "Signatures" allowed?

Often amusing and insightful.
Mine would be
I’d take an educated guess but am unqualified

This is like CHEERS. We don’t all know your name but we think we know enough. You don’t have to sign anything when your finger prints are so obvious.

signatures are pointless and add clutter to a board.

with that in mind, mine would say
Some people are like slinkies. Not worth much, but you just can’t help but smile when you push one down the stairs.

After a simple joking comment, one or two members here tried to bully me into revealing the name of the person that made that comment. The person was quite well known before he died and connected to a well known organization. Revealing that would have led to exposing a website, my wife, home, and personal information she used in support of the organization.

It’s best to resist names, phone numbers, addresses, emails, etc. with all the nuts out there looking at websites. We had already been targeted by nazi groups once so no reason to make it easy for them. So call me names all you want and make your assumptions, but that’s why. That’s why we can’t find transman either except southern Georgia and he has kids.

Nobody is stopping you from adding yet another annoying feature to your posts. If you want a sig, then add one. It just has to be manually inserted each time. Probably less effort than that foolish run-on text you seem to cling to doing…

I presume the OP is referring to the restriction to not insert your name (or screen name) in the text of your posts, as outlined in this site’s terms of service. One of the poster’s here almost always ends their post with their screen name on a separate line. That’s ok by me, but wondering why they do it? I’ve presumed it is so they can quickly locate all of their posts within a thread.

No, he’s looking to do what some sites allow- attach a cutesy quip or other statement to the end of each post.

Case in point #1:

Case in point #2:

Not sure where you got the idea he wants to insert his nametag…

What restriction ? I really don’t like getting emails from people who think they have to sign the email with their name and some goofy verse or something meant to lift my day .

I guess George is bothered by Tester ending his posts with his screen name , why I don’t know.

Other than the OP being nothing more than a Court Jester on here, he brings nothing to the table that I have ever seen, just ridicules childish run on words that just waste peoples time trying to read them… We defiantly don’t need a way for him to annoy us or new members looking for real help, or wanting to helping out…

Gee Dave , the real question is why can’t the people who are in charge of this Forum understand that ? Seems like a simple concept but has been allowed for years .

This forum has been on autopilot for ten years. Carolyn used to stop by once each week to put a stop the frequent arguments but most of the conduct problems have been ignored.

I was referring to this published forum-use restriction

Don’t sign your posts — every post has your profile information attached to it.

“FAQ/Guidelines” link at the top of the threads.

It’s not enforced, so not an issue anyway.

Fun signatures could be here. And they can change.
