My personal list of ugly cars is very long but normally whenever I see a subject line like this the first thing to pop up in my mind is Pontiac Aztek.
Seeing as how the Aztek is history, I’m reminded of it every time I see a Toyota Prius. Park the Aztek 500 feet away and the Prius 300 to keep the scale about right and a cursory look might make one think it’s the same vehicle. Both could be considered hideous but functional.
@DodgeGuy1986 I agree with your observation, but again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Bob Davis of Motor Week, of Public Television, thinks the Veloster looks dynamic and racy.
If CarTalk had waited until the Detroit Auto Show, I wonder if it would have had an influence on the selections

Hey! stop picking on my AZTEK! I am going to have to lay the blame of the current ugly car to the Nissan Juke. Its unconventional styling has its headlights a mere 6 inches above the fog lights. I am sure that its a fun little car, but, its looks also double as a theft deterrent (like my AZTEK)
Does anyone else think those big wheels with 5 or 6 spokes, no hubcaps, they put on new cars these days are genuinely unattractive? Not only are the spokes hideous, but the tires with the short sidewall to compensate for the size of the wheels, they make the car look like a horsedrawn wagon of yesteryear, big and tall, rather than a car, which should look low to the ground and sleek. Driving around these day, it’s like a re-run of the old tv show Wagon Train. These big wheels – just my opinion mind you, beauty is in the eye of the beholder – detract from the appearance of an otherwise nice looking car. I saw these big wheels on a newer Camry the other day, and thought to myself “What a shame to do that to the poor Camry!”
@GeorgeSanJose Those big wheels with 5-6 spokes are all the rigeur with the Pimp My Ride program. Every car they pimp up is given these crazy wheels with super wide tires. They must make the ride very uncomfortable!
