I recently had two incidents with Volvo 850 sedan accelerator linkage sticking. Two questions: 1. Is the throttle linkage under the protective cover supposed to recieve any lubrication during its service life? 2. How would you reccomend stopping the car if you’re on the highway and the throttle sticks wide open at 80 mph?
Shift into neutral, steer to the side of the road, then shut off the engine.
shifting to “no load” on engine puts revs above redline. car is standard trans. full throttle, no load runs at 7,000 rpm+
