Vision Test requirement for FL DMV?

I no longer will drive at night, and I’ve found there is a choice, and it’s called Uber.

I have no choice as there is no uber in my area we just barely have pizza delivery but it doe’s not come out as far as my house

I also have astigmatisms in both eyes. When I wore contacts, the ophthalmologist use a higher prescription than called for to fool my eyes into correcting the astigmatism. After a few days, it worked. It was like everything just snapped into focus. BTW, they let you wear contacts at work, or do you just disobey the rules? I wasn’t allowed to wear contacts in the shop, and followed the rules in the steel mill. After that, I wore the contacts anyway.

I’m in a suburb of Philadelphia and have never needed to wait more than 7 minutes for an Uber.

It takes me that long to drive to mailbox at the end of my driveway an back.

Lol, my mailbox is on the front porch.

That would be nice for bad weather but I could never live like that I need my privacy and a lots of room I never could live in what I call concrete jungle or human anthill. Also I don’t like light pollution.

Yes

It’s been made abundantly clear in several safety meetings that it’s permitted to wear contacts in the shop

If your eye doctor has a 5 to 10% chance of blindness with cataract surgery, I would not let him operate either.
The success rate of cataract surgery in this country is a hair over 98%. That is still a 2% risk and if you only have one functioning eye, I would not have surgery on it until it really hinders your life.

There are things you can do to minimize the risk. Chose a surgeon who has done a lot of them, so probably not one in a rural area. My surgeon was around 50 and no longer does anything but cataract surgery and any eye problems I have are definitely not due to his work. I was referred to him by my retinal specialist . My retinal specialist was referred to me by someone close to me who has worked in the field for years.

There’s no way in ____ I will ever have Lasik done on my eyes . . . I can wear glasses or contacts

But when the time comes . . . assuming I live long enough . . . I will get cataract surgery. I consider that to be more of a necessity, versus Lasik

I was talking to somebody at the gym and she claims to really need cataract surgery . . . apparently it’s reached the point where it’s not really safe for her to drive at night

Anyways, I got the sense she didn’t really do her homework when choosing the surgeon. I didn’t point this out to her, because I don’t know her very well. Mostly, I was just listening and making the occasional polite comment

She looks to be about 60 . . . is that on the young side to need cataract surgery?

I don’t know if there is a young side I was 66 when I had mine done as far as having the surgery I only have one good eye and did not think twice about having it done I also had a very well qualtified surgeon he came well recommended by my optomitrist who told me that was who he was going to use if he ever needed it.

I was under 70 when I had mine done, my wife who is about my age has no need for cataract surgery, has great distance vision and did not even start to need reading glasses until her late 70s. Her reading glasses are 1.0

She has a friend who is 101, no glasses still lives in her own apartment, invites friends to her house for meals, and drives 50 miles every weekend to visit her daughter and fix meals for her. I talk to her on the phone and her mind is as sharp as it ever was. When people see he out with her 75 year old daughter, they think the daughter is the mother.

I had one eye done at 57, other one at 61
