Using old power steering stop leak

I bought a bottle of power steering stop leak at a garage sale and I am wondering if it loses strength over time. I already have a small leak in my power steering of a 1989 Chrysler New Yorker and I don’t want to make it any worse.

Well, the old joke about the guy selling week-old lottery tickets that are half price, but only 1 in 5,000,000 less likely to win than the fresh ones comes to mind…

I would suspect it doesn’t really deteriorate over time, but realistically it doesn’t have that much of a chance of working to begin with. If it’s decades old, there’s also possibility that some advances have been made in power-steering stop leak technology and a newer version might be better.

A new bottle of the stuff shouldn’t cost too much. If I was in your position, I would fork over the money for a new product. These products are last ditch efforts though. I would not expect the old one or the new one to work.
