i have a 2000 dodge dakota auto trans it takes a long time to shift out of first fluid is at proper level. the ck engine light is on with codes p1762 and p1763 manufacturer controlled transmission.what is that code and would that cause the trans to shift slow? thanks.
Those codes refer to the low oil lamp control circuit and the engine hot lamp control circuit. Because those codes involve a system that is supposed to tell you when the car is about to destroy itself, it may well be programmed to switch to “limp home” mode to try and keep you from doing damage to the vehicle. That would change the shift points, and in many cars lock the transmission in 2nd gear.
