Toyota MR2-Spyder Timing Belt

What is the scheduled maintenance for a 2000 Toyota MR2-Spyder timing belt?

Find a manual.
Have a dealer look it up.

My manual is an all-purpose one that states all vehicles should have the timing belt replaced at 90,000 miles, but then later on another page under the specific 90,000 mile check it lists the specific models for the belt change but does not list the MR2-Spyder. Are there some types of timing belts that don’t need changing or is this just an oversight by the manual editor?
(I’ve got 81,000 miles on it, so it’s not an emergency yet.)

Check with Gates.com and you will find the belt listed as well as the change interval.

I Don’t See A Listing For A timing Belt On A 2000 Toyota MR-2 Spyder With The 1.8L Engine. I Believe You Have A Timing Chain. (Only Earlier Models Show A Belt)

Double check your manual or with Toyota to verify this. Better safe than sorry.
