Help. I have a 2006 Toyota Solara Convertible. The cover to the upper section of the center console will not stay closed. It seems that the latch does not catch. I have tried putting adhesive tape on the latch section without success. I have put adhesive tape on the catch section without success. I would put duct tape on the entire thing but I keep my sunglasses in the upper section of the console. I am too cheap to pay the dealership their hourly rate to have them look at it. Any suggestions about what I should do?
I’m not familiar with the exact construction of this latch, but what I’ve done in similar circumstances is jam a small piece of foam rubber behind the piece that needs to stick out farther. It acts like a spring.
The same thing happened to me. I just used some adhesive Velcro to hold the lid closed.
