My 04 Volvo XC70 has been squeeking really loud from the rear end when driving. Sounds like a chirp. It’s a high pitch chirp like metal rubbing on something and occurs only when moving. It doesn’t let up with brake pressure and seems to be just random…not constant. I hear it louder at slow speeds but it occurs at high speeds too. It sounds like it’s on something that turns since it speeds up and slows down with the speed I’m driving but faster than the rotation of the tire. Any thoughts on what this might be or how I can fix it myself? ~Jon
The rear brakes on your vehicle are disc brakes…But the parking brake uses brake shoes.
Inspect the rear brakes to see if the parking brake shoe hardware is still intact.
