I have a 99 Subaru Outback. 5 Speed. My speedometer works only some of the time. I have had the speed sensor and dash cluster changed and it still only works about 75% of the time. Has anyone else had this problem?
Analog or digital speedo?
If digital, does it drop to zero or does it go dark?
Could be a damaged wire in a harness or a connector.
It’s an analog. Someone I met at a gas station suggested I get a digital cluster and that would fix the problem. I’m assuming that when it is installed that all wires/connectors would be replaced? I don’t know very much about cars, so that may be a stupid question.

I wouldn’t go through the complication of converting to a digital cluster. All that’s left to replace is the speedometer cable. Sorry, I’m no Subaru expert.
