My right side mirror was flapping in the wind. I stopped and found it hanging on by a thread of rubber. Apparently the mirror has come loose from the backing. I need to glue it back. What is the correct adhesive for this? The mirror is heated which may have helped it come loose.
Go to a local auto parts store and pick up a roll of 3M? trim adhesive tape. Apply the tape to the mirror, peel off the backing and reattach the mirror.

I’ve had this advice, but it doesn’t take into account that the mirror gets really hot when the heater is on. I can be sure to never turn it on, but am not the only driver.
I need a way to glue it that won’t be temperature sensitive. I’m pretty sure the 3M tape will fail. What do you think?
Ahh, I found this:
“3M? Plastic Emblem and Trim Adhesive is ideal for bonding and minor repairs on vinyl molding, interior trim, plastic and metal ornaments. Use on interiors and exteriors. It dries quickly and is resistant to water, heat and fuels.”
But will it damage the aluminum mirror coating on the back of the glass?
