Replace only fuel pump or whole assembly also?

I have a 1993 ford taurus 3.8L V6 automatic GL. I have to replace the fuel pump. Is it hard to remove the fuel pump from the fuel pump “assembly?” Should I replace the fuel pump “assembly” also or just the fuel pump if I am not sure if I can remove the fuel pump from the fuel pump “assembly.” How do you remove the fuel pump from the “assembly?”

Most fuel pump assemblies are unitized, which means the fuel pump alone can’t be replaced.

You do know the fuel tank has to be removed in order to replace the fuel pump assembly?

One more thing. Don’t try to test the pump with jumper wires before you put the tank back up.
