2001 sable/taurus: I have the tank off and I took off the the metal ring that wedges into the fuel pump assembly. Should the pump assembly come out now or does it need to be twisted? It’s pretty tight, but maybe that’s from being installed so long!

There’s probably rust holding the fuel pump to the gas tank. Just give the pump assembly a twist and it should break the bond.
