The jetta has a trunk opener on the driver’s door. With the key you can override and lock it on the door. Which I did, as it probably has never been used before. Now, I cannot push the key in to unlock it so that I can open it from the car. The key fob unlocks it as it always did. VW says the tumbler is broken, replacement $277 for a matching vin lock and at least that much to remove the door panel and install it.
Any ideas on what I can try to fix it on my own or try first? I should never have tried locking it. Dang!
Lubricate the lock with graphite specifically made for locks.

I recommend this lock lubricant: https://www.superslickstuff.com/product/houdini-lock-lube/
Here’s another option:
3-IN-ONE Lock Dry Lube 2.5-oz Clear Premium Lock Lubricant with Attachable Straw in the Hardware Lubricants department at Lowes.com
I tried WD40. Lock lube is much better but I didn’t have any. Anyhows, I took a bobby pin and picked the lock! Won’t use that lock any more. Thanks for your feedback.
