Does this car have a timing belt or timing chain? It’s a 2005 model.

Look at your manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule. If it says to change the belt, it has a belt. If it doesn’t it’s a chain.

Or you could look at the catalog in the Gates Timing Belt section. If it isn’t listed, it’s a chain.

Gates does not show a belt.

Chain.

All Hondas except the v6 have been chained since 2003 I think.

The Hybrid Civic has a chain, all other Civics had a belt until 2006 model.
