Advice please!
I have a 1997 Dodge Caravan. It has the 2.4L 4cyl engine.
I am very happy with it (garage kept, runs like new, great MPG) BUT I want to buy a small camper and the 4cyl will not cut it (towing).
Question: how feasible would it be to replace the engine with a used/rebuilt 6cyl one?
I am looking for the lowest cost option; buying a used 6cyl Caravan in as good condition as my current 4cyl one would be, I was thinking, more expensive than putting in a new, larger engine. Or am I completely wrong?
Thanks in advance!
You are completely wrong. The cost of labor alone for doing a regular engine swap would likely cost more than a used Caravan, and actually swapping a different engine will undoubtedly cost even more.
No switching would be more expensive, and would have more potential problems. Stick with what you have or buy what you need.
