Well, it means the computer is trying to tell you of an issue that you need to take care of!
I’m not at all familiar with Peugeot systems for monitoring errors or maintenance (the service light), but first - what does the owner’s manual tell you about that service light? It might just say “take it to your authorized dealer.” Or it might have a means for you to pull more information.
Check all of your fluid levels (including even windshield washer fluid), tire pressures, and air filters.
Mostly, you’ll probably need someone with a scanner capable of pulling out error codes or similar. The computer “knows” why it puts the light on. It’s just not telling you because Peugeot wants you to take it to their “authorized dealer.” But other shops likely have the capability to “talk” to the computer for lower service rates.
I agree with above post. also, I would first check the battery voltage. if battery voltage is low, it can cause all sorts of lights and warnings.

hmmm … so the "needs service " dashboard warning light turned on, then it was reset so it turned off , but it continues to turn on again each time you start the engine? I presume that warning light is used for routine service items, like time to renew the engine oil & the like. Do you know specifically why that warning light turned on in the first place? & what was done to turn it off? No experience w/your car, just a diy’er, but I’m guessing the car’s computer thinks whatever service it needed hasn’t been done yet. No idea how it could know that.
