Changing the CV shaft & intermediate shaft combo out of my 2008 sable. Could see that the seal was leaking. Bought a seal remover from Harbor Freight. There is a thin piece of tranny that the seal seats up against. In trying to get the seal out I have bent that metal backing. I had inadvertently grabbed that instead of the seal and ended up snapping the tool in the process. I am thinking that that isn’t where the “seal” is made? Instead, it is more important to keep the outer “circle” free from scratches. So I am thinking of taking a rod and tapping that bent piece back where it will not interfere with the seal seating… Does that sound ok?
Also, I have not gotten the seal out yet and am really not sure how to get it out… It is definitely no easy to get to.
