My grandson has a 1999 Ford Escort Sport and the odometer does not work (speedometer does).
I am assuming this is all electronic (odo and speedo) because a mechanic told me the odo is a motor driven off the speedometer signal. True? I have not looked at this yet because everything packed like a sardine can. How much trouble would it be to replace?
You have a wonderful, informative and funny show.

Normally, the entire gauge cluster is replaced to fix this. I had the same problem with a 91 Mercury Grand Marquis once. Oddly enough, the trip odometer worked.
And, yes it is motor driven.
