Need advice on which car to lease: Acura TSX sport edition or Honda Accord V6 coupe

I’m leasing a new car and need help deciding which one. I’m between the Acura TSX special edition (V4) and the Honda accord V6 coupe. Performance, handling, luxury, and overall “sport” feel are important to me. I have an Acura CL type s right now. I only drive automatic. After seing the two cars specs compared side by side I can’t decided which is the more powerful car with the best handling and most luxury. Can anyone with more car knowledge offer me some guidance?

Drive them and pick the one you like. Both are good.

You might want to BUY the TSX and keep it for a long time. I hear the V4 engine is VERY difficult to find in any vehicle.

In all seriousness, though, since you are renting long term(er… leasing), wanting sporty handling with luxury, you might as well go for a BMW or Mercedes.

Specs are numbers on a page. Drive both on the same route and decide which you like best. BTW, is the Accord less expensive? This might be part of your decision making process too.

Acura TSX special edition (V4)

What’s a V4?? Are you referring to the engine?? If so it’s NOT a V4. It’s a inline 4. V stands for the relationship of the engine design and the pistons. Two pistons on one side and two on the other in a V pattern. This engine and MOST 4-cylinders are in-line 4’s.

As for which to Lease…Ever consider buying? Leasing is the WORSE way to get into a car.

I would go for the Acura; the 4 cylinder had a timing chain while the V6 in the Accord has a timing belt. Fuel mileage will be better as well. I’m assuming you will drive enough miles to have to change the timing belts on the Honda before the lease expires.

Both are good cars, but personal “feel” is very important.

I wouldn’t worry about the timing belt in the V6 Accord. It is scheduled to be changed at 105,000 miles or 7 years. I doubt that your lease will run that long.

The lease will be paid for by my father since I’m technically still in school, so it basically comes down to if ill like driving either of the cars better than my CL right now. I drove both; Acura definitely has better handling but I couldn’t accelerate and go fast because the leasing agent when with me.

You have a very generous father

Normally, I wouldn’t recommend leasing to anybody, because it’s not a financially wise decision

The numbers work AGAINST you and in favor of the dealer

Always

This is so funny, it’s kind of sad.

My friend has the Honda Accord V6. Beautiful. Cameras on both sides, speeds up really well, fuel efficiency is not too bad - dude, just drive both of them and see how you feel. One will make you feel more confident than the other. Go for that one.

You can go to any dealer and test drive a car. Just tell them you are thinking about buying one. If you want to test acceleration, merge onto a highway and floor it.

I’m in agreement with JoeMario more than anything else…

No offense meant, but buying/leasing a kid in highschool a new car of his/her choices is a formula for future trouble. My buddy in high school was given a hot car by his dad when he got his license. He got a brand new 1968 SS396 Camaro…which he then promptly souped up. If his dad hadn’t been politically “connected” he would have ended up in prison. I wish I could buy your dad a coffee. Perhaps I could talk some sense into him.

The Accord is the smart choice. It’s less likely to get you killed.

Sorry. As a dad with grown kids that I love dearly, your post gives me the willeys.

My brother and I got the family’s “spare car” when we got our driver’s licenses.

It was extremely underpowered and had few creature comforts

Nevertheless, my brother got into several accidents, all due to speeding

If he’d had access to a fast car, he might not have survived . . .

Nice dad. If your question is simply which is quicker, it’s probably the Honda with its bigger engine, but so what? The Acura is reputedly a decent performer, if not especially quick. It will get you onto the freeway and has enough oomph to pass a slower car. It’s perfectly adequate. If you want to drive like a child, neither car is ideal, but you should just grow up and drive like an adult. You’re less likely to wreck the car and kill yourself and your friends.

I’m actually in medical school, NOT high school. Aka I’m a responsible, intelligent adult with no money since school is 50k a year.

My sincere apology. As usual, I ASS-uMEd.
I tip my hat to your dad, too. He’s clearly making the best of all investments…investing in his son.

With that new knowledge, perhaps the Acura would be a better choice. It’d give you more fun for the times that you can squeeze it in. Both should be reliable and long lastiing, but the Acura is a bit more sporty.

Sincere best.

Your reply about med school doesn’t change my opinion.

First impressions are very difficult to break. Your opening post was your “resume”, and your earlier reply only served to solidify who you are. Trying to back-pedal it with med school doesn’t erase my views on the comforts you expect from your parents nor how you will respect and treat those items.

A lot depends on where you go to school and where you do your residency. A friend didn’t need a car in med school, but did when he started residency. He was in the Bronx at a very busy emergency center. As you might expect, it was a very bad neighborhood. He drove a Pinto. It was reliable transportation. Who would steal that? If you are in a decent part of town, a nice car makes sense, though. If you are going To Johns Hopkins, rethink the nice car.
