Motor mounts

I have my 2002 Honday Odyssey in the shop to have the timing belt replaced and have been told that the van also needs front and side motor mounts- the rubber is almost totally gone. The quoted price is $850.00. It’s a dealership and they are hurting for business so don’t know if I can totally trust them. Is this something that can happen to a 7 year old van- 49,000 miles?

Thanks!

Bad motor mounts are a known issue with Honda Odysseys of that era, so yes, it can happen.

After the timing belt is replaced, take the van to a well-reputed independent mechanic to get his opinion on the motor mounts. If he agrees that they are in bad shape, he will likely quote a few hundred $$ less for this job than the dealership.

Thank you!
