What should I do? I spilled milk in the gear shift area and now there is a foul smell in my car?
The console will have to be removed in order to get down inside to clean up the spilt milk.

Agree with above poster; there’s no other way to get rid of the smell. However, there’s no point in crying over spilt milk!!
After removing the console make sure that the milk did not wet the carpet under the console. If it did, you will need to thoroughly rinse and dry the milk-wetted area. You might be able to do it without removing the carpet by stuffing something absorbant behind the it to soak up the water before you wet the carpet.
Don’t panic. I did not say that you must clean the carpet. You should be prepared for it when you take the console off so you spend as little time with the console off as possible.
Drinking milk in a car? At least cell phones don’t spill.
