Trying again the first attempt went wacko.
First of all changing that R. Gift Lexus nonsense was warranted. But I think those things should be done by a real site Moderator not just a member with a screen name. There are members here have that ability and don’t even know they have it. If the people in charge of this Forum need help then they should ask members to apply for a limited Moderator position with a site specific screen name other than the one they use here.
That would mark the end of anything - whatsoever - that I post on CarTalk Community.
@GorehamJ maybe some clarification is needed.
We sort of already have this power. Enough flags or reporting, gets the post sent to the moderators.
This info is open to all, just poke around and look for it in members profiles…
There are (so far) 3 trust levels or Badge for ALL forum members, well 4 if you count the 2 Discourse Staffers and one of those is discobot, neither post on the forum…
1st is Trust Level Basic:

The only thing I have figured out that Trust Level Regular members can do is recategorize and rename topics, we can not affect in anyway a post, we have NO admin powers…
I would imagine that part of the 3rd level is given to those that have not been banned for whatever reason, at least in the 3 years I have been on…
And yes we all get alerts to all new badges, including the Trust Level Badge, rather you pay attention to the new Badge is up to that member…
No , some of us have set our notifications to Never Notify. Also I know of several long time members who did not even know they had badges ( one has never looked at his Summary page ).
I agree with Mr. Public, the Flagging lets people who are actually part of the Forum staff make the decisions not just some unknown screen name member.
What are you talking about??? Trust level members have NO ability to do anything about anyone being flagged, we have no powers to delete or change a post in anyway, nothing has changed in the flagging department, so why are you so upset about this???
Trust me, I saw the post that Nevada made that got flagged and deleted, If I was able in anyway to do anything about that post it would have not been removed!!!
And what is an unknown screen name member???

It is there for all to see unless their profile is blocked… If you want to get notified about stuff then I would advise you to turn your notifications back on…

OK, I accept that. I see the “Green Check Mark Circles” over the first three level, but it does say “Leader” has been awarded 2-times. Does that Level-4 need a certain number of awards to become active?
