Left-Hand Turn Signal of the Devil (2006 Honda Accord LX)

Went to get lunch today and while turning back into the office, I put on my left turn signal like a good citizen. The arm clicked back to the neutral off position… but the blinker didn’t stop. Manually moving the arm to the right blinker position caused both to flash, “off” caused just the left to flash. The hazard button caused all to flash at the same rate. Turning the hazards off went back to the left blinkers.

Removing the key from the ignition didn’t even stop the left blinkers. I ended up removing the the fuse for the hazards from under the hood so that my battery wouldn’t get drained this afternoon. Where do I go from here?

Doesn’t seem like a bulb would cause it? Do I need a new flasher unit?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

I’d suspect a bad flasher module. Something similar happened to me once with a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, and the flasher under the dash was the problem.

Good luck.

Thanks ledhed75! That’s what I’m suspecting (and hoping) it is. Talking to folks at the local parts store (which couldnt find the part to order, will have to buy from the dealer), they think it could be that or the actual arm in the steering column. I’m not exactly prepared to open that up so I’m going to try to fix what I want the problem to be I guess.

The guy also kept saying “I think ya got a wire crossed!” I’m not sure if that was a diagnosis of my car or my personality though.
