while it comes on some higher end cars… how to find a retrofit option for any average car?
I would start with a Russian military surplus catalog and work from there. 
Huh? I’ve never heard of a civilian car with infrared night vision. Do I need to get out more?
GM has offered it for years on Cadillacs and more recently on other brands too (I think), Mercedes and other high-end brands are offering it as well
Yup, I need to get out more. Or travel with a classier crowd.
For some reason I remember seeing an ad for a night vision system on sale at Canadian Tire. But I don’t know if they still it.
I don’t know that my scene is all that classy, I just read 4 or 5 car mags a month.
It sure would be handy for chasing those deer off the road and back into the woods. Especially if you could make it see the trees that people often hit while they are doing that.
