Some parts stores will read the codes for free. Ask around.
Post the codes back here.
Auto Zone, and some other auto parts stores, will read the codes for free, at no charge. Then, bring the codes here. The codes will be like P0301, or P0xxx.
If this engine has a Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor, check the vacuum line from the intake manifold to that sensor.
Knowing what codes are stored is essential. On Chrysler products you can read the codes by turning the ignition on-off-on-off-on in sequence with the engine not running (do not start the car, only turn the ignition to the first position where the lights on the dash come on when performing this procedure) The stored codes will blink out on the check engine light. For example if you have codes 12 and 34, the light will blink once, short pause, blink twice, longer pause, blink three times, short pause, blink four times. When all codes have been displayed the light will blink out 55, indicating the end of the sequence. Post back with the codes.
