Headlight and open door ding question

It wont let me select the vehicle above so I am driving a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country minivan.

Ok I have had an intermittent problem for awhile where the headlights would not come on. Both lowbeams, but high beams would work. Most of the time I would just turn the lights off and on a few times and they would come on. One time we changed the fuse and they worked for awhile, but then the issue comes back. Also the warning sound when you open the door with either the lights on or the key in the ignition occurs every moment the door is open even if the lights are turned off and they key is out. I do not know if these might be related.

In your search engine enter, Chrysler TIPM.

Cars used to have a manual switch wired directly to the headlights, or at least to the headlight relay. Now-a-days the switch is wired to a computer, and the computer is what turns the headlights on & off, often still via a relay. That problem could be the headlight selector switch, the computer (i.e. TIPM), the headlight relay (which might be part of the TIPM) and/or the connectors between all that stuff. You need a tech experienced with diagnosing this sort of thing on Chryslers to figure out what the problem is, then you might decide to replace the non-functional part yourself if you like. Suggest to not try to fix this sort of problem by replacing parts on a guess, as you may run out of money before you run out of guesses.
