Bought a used 2007 Honda Accord with factory installed GPS. It doesn’t have anything on it. Is there an activation CD needed? Where can I get it? Thanks
GPS units are usually loaded with a complete set of maps when they are sold…Does your unit have any way to load data?? Chances are, it will have to be returned to a factory repair facility or more likely, simply replaced with a far more up to date aftermarket unit…
The current DVD should be available at http://www.hondanavi.com. If that’s too expensive, you can probably find an older version on eBay. (In fact, chances are that’s where you’ll find the DVD they stripped out of yours!)
Yup, just as people tend to “denude” cars of the Owner’s Manual and other helpful booklets when they sell them, nowadays folks are probably also removing the CDs necessary for the Sat Nav system to operate. Next time, you will know that this is something to look for before buying a used car.

And now I do, too.
First check for the DVD. It’s in a player in the trunk. If it’s not there, you need to ask the dealership which disc to get (as with Acuras, Hondas have different hardware depending on the year. An “orange” disc will not work in a player meant for a “white” disc, and vice-versa.
Then go on ebay and get last year’s disc for quite a bit less than the dealership will charge you for this year’s.
If there IS a DVD, check to be sure it’s inserted right and is clean.
